Your Jungle Trek Adventure:
Day 1: Into the Jungle
Your adventure begins at 9:00 AM, when our English-speaking guide picks you up from your guesthouse. After a short walk, you’ll cross the Bahorok River and step into the dense Sumatran rainforest. As you hike up and down the hills towards the western part of the national park, your guide will point out various creatures and plant species, sharing fascinating details about the rainforest’s rich biodiversity.
With a bit of luck, you might encounter gibbons, Thomas leaf monkeys, long-tailed and pig-tailed macaques, flying squirrels, Sumatran peacocks, hornbills, and the fantastic wild orangutans along the way. By around 3:00 – 4:00 PM, you’ll reach the peaceful camp, which is located next to a small river. Take some time to relax, enjoy a swim, and sip on afternoon coffee or tea.
As the evening settles in, our ‘5* jungle chef’ will prepare a delicious Indonesian dinner over an open campfire. You can unwind by the fire, play card games with your guide, sing, or simply gaze up at the stars while reflecting on your first day in the jungle. Comfortable tents, mattresses, pillows, and sleeping bags will ensure a restful night’s sleep in the heart of nature.
Day 2: Deeper into the Wild
Waking up to the sounds of monkeys, birds, and insects is an unforgettable experience. After a hearty breakfast, you’ll embark on a 6-hour trek, venturing deeper into the rainforest. As you move further into the wild, the chances of spotting more wildlife increase.
Midway through your journey, your guides will prepare a simple jungle lunch atop a hill with breathtaking views. The stunning scenery you’ll encounter throughout the day will leave a lasting impression. By the afternoon, you’ll reach your next campsite by the Bohorok River, where our team will once again serve up a delicious Indonesian dinner. Spend the evening relaxing by the campfire, playing cards, or singing with your guides. The jungle truly comes alive at night, with different animals, sounds, and a sky filled with stars.
Day 3: Jungle Farewell
On your final morning, you’ll wake up to the soothing sounds of the rainforest. If you’re lucky, you may catch sight of Sumatran monitor lizards, tortoises, or colorful butterflies near the campsite. After breakfast, you have the option to either embark on a 3-hour trek or unwind by a picturesque waterfall.
Lunch will follow, complete with a refreshing jungle fruit salad, before you begin your journey back to the village. To make your return truly memorable, you’ll hop onto a “jungle taxi”—a traditional tube-rafting experience down the Bahorok River with your guide. This exhilarating ride will take you back to your guesthouse, providing a perfect end to your unforgettable Sumatran jungle adventure.
